Ancient Egyptian Games: Online
For the final post in the series on Ancient Egyptian Games I’ve collected a bunch of games that can be played online and put them all together here on one page.
You can also purchase games for your computer from the Ancient Egyptian Games Shop.
Senet:
You can read all about the ancient Egyptian game of Senet or you can just jump straight in and play a game of Senet by clicking on the game board below:
Hounds & Jackals:
Like Senet, Hounds & Jackals was another popular game in ancient Egypt.
Build a Pyramid
The BBC has a fun and educational game for children to learn about the Ancient Egyptian Pyramids and how they were built. It’s really quite authentic. The picture below, for example, shows the stage where you select the angle for your pyramid and the accompanying hieroglyphic writing is from plate 16 of the Rhind Mathematical Papyrus.
Build another Pyramid
This game is similar to the game Pharaoh but is a bit more simple.
Egyptian Pyramids Jigsaw puzzle
A fun Jigsaw puzzle with an Egyptian photograph. Just choose the yellow “Play as Guest” button.
Egypt Puzzle
Amazing Adventures - The Lost Tomb
This one requires that you first download and install the game before you can play. The site offers both a free download and a paid version.
A piece of an ancient map was discovered and is believed to reveal the location of the Lost Tomb of Egypt. Under the direction of the Museum, begin your adventure to locate the Lost Tomb and the treasures locked within!
Tomb of the Unknown Mummy
The Mummy Maker
This is where things start to get a bit messy. Not for the squeamish, in this game you get to scoop the brains out of Seneb’s nose as one of the stages of preparing the body for mummification. Its OK though, we made sure that Seneb was dead first.
The Birmingham Museum of Arts for Kids has an educational walk-through. Guess the questions correctly and you get to see inside the mummy’s sarcophagus:
Bricks of Egypt
Bricks of Egypt takes you on a fantastic journey through an Egyptian world of traps, lasers, fire-balls, gems and hieroglyphs. Classic brick-breaking action and three difficulty settings makes Bricks of Egypt fun for all ages:
Pharoah’s Tomb
Pharoah’s Treasure
Hangaroo
Play Hangaroo, a variation on Hangman. You can also play Hangaroo with a Tutankamon theme.
Immortal Cities: Nile Online
Nile Online is a persistent browser-based empire building game set in ancient Egypt. Play with thousands of other players as you construct cities and monuments worthy of your legacy as Pharaoh! Nile Online is casually paced; it’s something you can play throughout the day, minutes at a time.
The game is free to play and there is nothing to download or install - within seconds you’re commanding, tweaking and growing your empire from anywhere that you have access to the internet.
