‘Talking Pyramids’ Update

There have been a few new additions and changes to the blog so I thought I’d give a site update post.

Pyramid Fields
The area on the top-right side called ‘Pyramid Fields’ is where a lot of the action has been lately. I have been in contact with a number of people on my quest to find accurate information on the open times and costs and have at least completed the Giza Plateau page. I continue to look for information on the other pyramid fields and keep an eye out for any changes at Giza. Of course, if any one sees any inaccuracies or has any additional information I’d love to hear from you.

The use of Google maps at the top of each page has been improved with the addition of small text links underneath each map. Using these links you can jump to a closer view of each of the pyramids.

Navigating the Map

Use the standard Google Maps navigation on the top left corner of the map to move around and zoom in and out. You can view the satellite image in full size by clicking on the ‘View Larger Map’ link.

You can zoom right in on the queen’s pyramids, the solar boat pits and if you look closely you can even make out the openings to the ‘trial passages’.

Using the 'Tags' feature to get related information

I’d also like to point out the ‘Tag’ links at the bottom of each pyramid section. These collect all related information on the blog and present it to you on one page, sort of like a preset search button. Occasionally there might also be an additional link there to a related video or website.

Not all the pyramid fields are complete and some may take a while due to the difficulty in located the pyramids that have long since decayed. If any one has coordinates on some of the missing ones I’d love to hear from you.

Banner
Another change in the next few days will be a new improved banner to replace the stark black banner. If anyone is wondering what that square piece of papyrus is on the right side of the banner, it is a link to the ‘Talking Pyramids’ RSS feed. If that made no sense but you are curious then you can read all about RSS here: Wikipedia.
